Dental implants are a great way to replace missing teeth as they are permanent and very natural looking, Also they are more convenient than partials or dentures which are taken in and out of the mouth. Implants provide excellent support for biting and chewing and will last many years. What does getting dental implants involve?
The process of getting implants requires a number of visits over several months. First X-rays and impressions (molds) are taken of the jaw and teeth to determine bone, gum tissue, and spacing available for an implant. If an implant is viable, the dentist (usually an oral surgeon) will place a post into the bone and then seal it up so it can harden and integrate itself into the area. When sufficient healing has occurred the post is unsealed. Now Dr. Mulligan can make you a porcelain tooth which will be put on top of the post. which will look like it grew there natrually!
You will receive care instructions when your treatment is completed. Good oral hygiene and eating habits, alongside regular dental visits, will aid in the life of your new implant.
